19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent saved four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
